14 days before the event it was clear that it would not be possible nor safe to make the competition at Nove Mlyny lake because of low water level. The idea was to move the event to another venue <- lake Velke Darko located in the woods of highlands near Zdar nad Sazavou. From that moment the organisers from Yacht Club Velke Darko started to prepare everything to be ready to host the event.
The event started on Sunday, September 8th 2018. The competitors came from all three countries (37 Czechs, 16 Slovaks, 9 Hungarians) and exceptionally we had also visitors from Croatia (3 boys). In total there were 32 Raceboards and 33 Bics. In the morning there were wind gusts up to 16 knots, but it dropped to 10 knots when the first race began. Bic Techno sailed 4 races. Raceboard could finish only 3 races (4th race was abandoned due to weak wind).
In the Raceboard fleet local Radim Kamensky (CZE-110) took advantage of sailing at his home lake and won all three races. He has proved that it is even possible to win on old Mistral board borrowed from friend. Patrik Pollak (SVK-1) was very close behind him and third place belonged to Martin Potucky (SVK-241). Jana Slivova (CZE-26) followed in 4th place. She has shown to be very fit after Raceboard Europeans.
In the Bic Techno class, Hungarians showed that they are kings of the lake and winds. First place belonged to Tamas Palinkas (HUN-160) and second to Balint Morvai (HUN-9). Nikola Stipcic (CRO-19) took third place. Karolina Berankova (SVK-11) was the best in the Bic Techno Plus class.
It was sunny on Saturday but unfortunately there was no wind. To shorten the waiting, all kids took part in a paddleboard elimination race. The wind did not come at all but I hope everybody spent a good time with friends and was satisfied.
