Posted On:  24/08/2018 10:55:58

61 competitors representing 15 countries have descended upon Sailing Club 360 at Kizezers Lake, Riga, Latvia for the 2018 Raceboard European Championships. A quality field in both the men's and women's fleets, including previous World and European champions, are ready for battle.

The Men were first on the water followed swiftly by the Women and 5 races each were completed in winds ranging from 6 to 15 knots.  These were technically challenging races on a windward /leeward course.

In the men's fleet, Maksymilian Wojcik (POL-4) was on customary form taking the bullet in the first two races and race 4 but let his guard slip with Curro Manchon (ESP-1) winning race three and Aron Gadorfalvi (HUN-1) taking race 5. Grand Master Patrik Pollak, renowned IWA events videographer and photographer, finished just outside the top three with a second and a couple of thirds. Results

Over in the Women's fleet, Latvian Vita Matise and Czech Jana Slivova finished the day neck and neck, Jana having taken two bullets and Vita one. Anto Dominguez (ESP-11) took the bullet in race two, and Latvian Ilona Grinberga scored a couple of thirds, both in contention for the podium. Results

3 further days are scheduled to complete a 15 race championship series. Follow the live updates here
